About Persian

This long-haired breed of cat can be your best friend or an annoyed aunt that’ll have a look of contempt always. If you treat them with elegance and dignity, you have found a mate for life, else they can get scratchy! They are said to come from the lands of Sheikhs, originally called Gorbe-ye-irāni. They were explored in the Victorian period but are said to have existed since the 16th century. This breed of cats is also called Persian long hair, in regards to their long lustrous mane. These doll-faced cats were originally drenched with shiny, silky grey fur and eventually with selective breeding are now available in multiple colors. They are playful but would never disturb your peace of mind. Subtle and poise can be their nicknames, for they would make great posers that would attract any eyes.

Characteristics

This elegant beauty of the cat breed has an extremely long and thick coat. With short legs and wide heads, they define cuteness combined with grace. Their ears are set far apart and possess large eyes that are set to melt any hearts. These quiet and placid nature cats have extremely shortened muzzle. They are more bonded with silent environments and so easily can find home in an apartment life with no much chaos or noise. The Persians are loveable and friendly but can be biased. They trust their family members and people they often see and are acquainted with. They have a life span of 10 to 15 years and there are rare cases where they live up to 19 years of age.

They love to sit quiet and can be Instagram friendly if you need a cat model. Find them a spot to sit or lie down and they make great posers! You can never find them jumping or running around, but rather cozying in a corner like a princess! They aren’t hyper and so you can leave them unattended and you would still be coming to your mess-free home. They aren’t much of a talker and let their eyes express what they want to say.

• These cats have a mysterious past, as it is not exactly clear where they originated.

• They weren’t always so flattened. Before the 1950s genetic mutation, they had a more defined muzzle. But once the breeders found the flat face being adorned they continued with that feature.

Care

They are delicate and hence require a lot of care and love from you. Their long hair requires all the attention in the world and so daily grooming becomes a thing. The coat needs to be detangled and brushed regularly. It is great if your cat takes a dip in the bathtub once a month. Make sure your cat’s bed and surrounding area clean as there are chances for them to have litter lodged in their coat. Persians can be a little over the top emotional and so excessive tearing is a problem. Hence be careful to wipe their eyes daily. 

It is best if you do not let your Persian take a stroll as it is naturally an indoor cat. Since they aren’t born fighters, there can be trouble waiting down the corner of your block, literally! Their coat can’t stir away from the sticks and bushes that can catch onto their lovely fur, making it double trouble for you while grooming. They prefer silence over noise and hence it is best to care for them within your four walls.

Daly Routine

It’s good to have a daily care routine for your cat mate. Be it brushing their coat or getting their routine health checkup, your cat deserves to be taken care of! Here are some things you can add to your daily routines to take care of your cat.

• Brush them up – You know they are called long-haired for a reason. Hence it is only reasonable to brush them every day. This is to groom them well as well as to keep their coat clean. As you can only let them wet themselves once a month, daily grooming becomes a necessity.
• Wipe them up – Persian cats are known to tear up easily. So you will have to be read with a clean towel to wipe their eyes clean. They also have noses that are naturally structured in such a way, breathing can be sometimes a task. So make it easier for them to breathe by regularly cleaning their nose with a cuticle or a clean towel. 
• Vaccinate them – You must get your four-legged mate to a vet once in a while. Your cats can have all sorts of flu and allergies or some other illness lurking around them. Persian cats are easily prone to respiratory diseases as well. Add to your daily routines a regular check-up and vaccination.

Do’s And Don’ts Of Diet Plans/ Ideal Food For your Paw Friend

Persian cats can be demanding when it comes to good food. Their health can be vulnerable depending on the food they consume and so their diet must be well noted. Certain foods can bring out a sickening diet for your Persian and it’s best to keep their paws away from them. 

Their diet is a mixture of meats and non-meat products that helps them keep healthy and energetic.

• Meat – Cats are carnivores by birth, which means they love to indulge in meat. It helps them be energetic, as they are high on proteins.
• Wheat and Oats – You paw mate may not be fond of these dry bits of oats, but it is healthy to include wheat and oats in their diet once in a while. They are high in Vitamin – B
• Fruits – Fruits like Bananas and Apples are a treat for your Persian buddy. It is advised to peel the apples before you feed your cat. They are high in all vitamins and minerals that are a sufficient part of their nutrient intake. Berries are also a good option to add to their munching goodies!

As mentioned there are foods your four-legged buddy would want to stir away from as well. Can you believe your mate cannot indulge in chocolates?! Yes, they can be allergic to this sweet treat! Caffeine is similar to chocolates as it leads to vomiting, diarrhea, and even seizures. Grapes and raisins are an absolute no as they can lead to harm to their kidney. The Persian cats are also to stir away from onions and garlic as they affect their red blood cells that can make your pets anemic. Now, who would want that?! If you are someone who enjoys good booze, remember to keep them away from their paw’s reach. Alcohol is extremely harmful to Persian cats and can even leave them in a state of coma.
